RAW FLESH

BY RICARDO GONÇALVES

The environment is a sanitized void, smelling of antiseptic and recycled breath. It is the architecture of a forced stillness, a cage designed to break the psyche through the body. The bandages across her eyes are the final stage of the behavioral lockdown, a white wall erected between the mind and the world. She is no longer a person, but a subject, reduced to a collection of biological responses on a chart she will never be allowed to see.

The syringe is the primary instrument of the system. It slides into the muscle with a cold, precise aggression, delivering the unknown into the bloodstream. There is no explanation, only the sharp friction of the needle and the chemical heat that follows. It is a systematic marking of the herd, a violation of the sovereign body disguised as a clinical necessity. Her organism reacts with a sharp, involuntary tremor, a spike of adrenaline in a vacuum of choice.

The sexuality here is a desperate, animalistic byproduct of confinement. It is the only part of the flesh that refuses to be quieted by the protocol. In the absence of human touch, the skin becomes a site of electric friction against the sterile sheets. The leather mask is a muzzle, crushing her breath into a rhythmic, muffled groan that sounds like both a prayer and a protest. She is trapped in the center of total authority, a body undergoing a mandatory metamorphosis. The lockdown is not just a wall, it is the metal in the blood and the leather on the face, a permanent state of biological and mental siege.
